Mackenzie's Sidekicks

It’s hard to believe that the 2015 Walk to Cure Arthritis is almost here.  We have just 19 short days left to reach our goals of 20+ team members and raising $5000.  Even if we don’t reach our fundraising goal (it was a lofty one for us) we would really love to reach our team member goal.  If you are reading this, have you signed up to walk with us?  It’s really quite easy……

The 2015 Walk to Cure Arthritis is Saturday, May 2nd at John Ball Park.   Registration/Check-In begins at 8:30a and the program and walk begin at 9:40a.  There are two courses you can walk, a one mile course and a three mile course.  There is no fee to walk with us, however all walkers ages 3 years and over do need to be registered.  If a walker raises or donates $25 or more they will receive a wristband for complementary admission to the zoo for the remainder of the day.  Talk about a great family outing!

There will be all sorts of fun things to do before the walk during the Registration/Check In time.   There will be a terrific juggling act to watch from Just Josh Juggling.  I’ve heard a rumor that Griff from the Grand Rapids Griffins will be there.  And there will be exhibits from the event sponsors as well.

After the walk we will be hosting a picnic (weather permitting) for everyone that walks with us.  We will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs and have chips and cookies for everyone before they head into the zoo or off to enjoy the remainder of their day just as our way to say Thank You to everyone that comes out to support Mackenzie.

Better late then never, here are pictures from the 2015 Walk to Cure Arthritis in Grand Rapids.  Thank you again to one and all that walked with us, donated to the team, and are continuing to support Mackenzie in her fight to find a cure!

We are quickly approaching our 3rd Annual Mom2Mom Sale fundraiser.  This year the Mom2Mom Sale will be our only major fundraiser for the 2016 Grand Rapids Walk to Cure Arthritis.  This sale has always been a great fundraiser for Mackenzie’s Sidekicks due to the great participation from our mom resale booths, our bake sale sponsored by the fabulous congregation at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, and our wonderful Direct Sale Vendors.  This year looks to be no different and we are also adding in a Girl Scout Cookie booth hosted by Mackenzie’s Girl Scout Troop so shoppers can also stock up on their favorite Girl Scout cookies before the season ends.

We still have mom resale booths available starting at $20 for an approximately 10×10 space without table provided, the price goes up a little for a booth with table provided.  If you are interested in a resale booth look under the files tab for a registration packet.  We would love to sell this event out and make it a great event for all involved.

We have added some additional booth space to the Mom2Mom Sale so we are opening it up to a limited number of sellers that are interested in selling new and gently used household items, clothing, books, etc. (basically we are adding a few “indoor yard sale” style booths).   These new booths will still when possible measure the approx. 10×10 and in some cases they will measure a bit smaller but will still offer and equivalent amount of selling space as our 10×10 booths would.  If you are interested in participating in this event as either a Mom reseller or a Yard Sale booth please visit our Files tab for a registration packet or send us a message via our Contact Us tab.

Well, we had a bit of local and regional competition for our first Mom2Mom Sale on April 16 so we’ve decided to do one more.  We had some very wonderful sellers at our sale on the 16th and they were very understanding.  Also we had a wonderful crowd of shoppers which was also heartwarming since we waived our admission fee due to so few sellers (due to the competition I mentioned earlier) and yet these wonderful shoppers still filled our donation jar up with wonderful donations to support Mackenzie.

Our next Mom2Mom Sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 21 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on Henry St.  It is a great location for a sale.  The building itself is very large (we are able to hold at least 50 seller booths of various sizes), it has a large parking lot (so plenty of great parking for all the shoppers), it is on a major north/south road through Norton Shores (Henry St), and it is right near Ross Park Elementary (where there are soccer fields that will be hosting youth soccer games all morning creating even more potential traffic for our sale as they drive by and see it).  We are super excited about being given this second chance at raising funds for the Arthritis Foundation.  If you know of anyone that may be interested in joining us a seller/vendor at this event, please have them visit us here and either pull the registration form from our Forms Tab or send a message through our Contact Us Tab.  We would love nothing more then to fill this sale to capacity with sellers/vendors to give our shoppers the best shopping experience possible.
